In September 2016, the Pendleton School District focused on attendance. The district-wide goal for attendance is 94%.
According to Curt Thompson, Principal at Hawthorne:
We would like to thank Lost and Found Youth Outreach and Greater Oregon Behavioral Health Inc. (GOBHI) for their continued support this year. Many people from these organizations have collaborated with the school to facilitate and fund an incentive program to improve academic performance/attendance and to build resilience for students affected by childhood adversity.
The Lost and Found incentive program supplies Keurig coffee for students who are here in the morning before school. We also recognize a student every week who demonstrates the highest level of achievement/attendance by posting their picture on the wall and buying them lunch at Dairy Queen.
